NYSC THE FORGOTTEN DREAMS
The ideology for the establishment of NYSC scheme was to reconstruct, reconcile and rebuild the country after the Nigerian Civil war. The unfortunate antecedents in our national history gave impetus to the establishment of the National Youth Service Corps by decree No.24 of 22nd May 1973 which stated that the NYSC is being established "with a view to the proper encouragement and development of common ties among the youths of Nigeria and the promotion of national unity". aim for the establishment of Nysc
- A united, strong and selfreliant nation
- A great and dynamic economy
- A land of bright and full opportunities for all citizens
The founding fathers of the scheme, dream of a better country where all Nigeria will be free to associate and move within boards, with restriction in exploring the potential of other state within Nigeria. but today the story has changed, people are afraid to travel or visit other state to serve the father land. Today we hear off corps member serving his father land murdered in cool blood, and the government doing nothing to apprehend the culprit, what a shame!!.what the future of our youth serving their father land? where after service are faced with the burden of getting a decent job. The government need to weak up and act very fast, for lasting peace and co-existence to exist in Nigeria.
